About Amersham

Amersham is a pretty market town in Buckingham, located near Aylesbury and High Wycombe. Amersham is situated in the Chiltern Hills, boasting beautiful scenery with excellent transport links. Amersham is made up of two distinct areas – Old Amersham and Amersham-on-the-Hill. Old Amersham contains historic buildings while Amersham-on-the-Hill is a newer part of the town centred around the train station.

Early trade in Amersham was local grain, which was mostly sold to London merchants. During the 17th and 18th centuries, the key industries in the town were brewing, tanning, lace manufacture and brickmaking. William Weller purchased the brewery in Amersham in 1775, expanding the business and buying local public houses. Today, a wide range of businesses are located in Amersham, including well-known healthcare and technology companies.
