South West London Office Guide

About South West London

South West London encompasses Kensington and Chelsea, Lambeth, Hammersmith and Fulham, Wandsworth and Merton, and the southernmost parts of Westminster. Many of London’s most desirable locations can be found in this region of the city, attracting a wide mix of businesses to serviced offices in the area.

Sectors at the forefront of the economy for the south west include service, retail, tourism and hospitality sectors, finance businesses and insurance companies. Manufacturing industries are still drawn to South West London as well, although this sector isn’t as strong today as it was several decades ago. South West London is one of the most fashionable and prestigious postcodes in the city to rent office space with more than 1.3 million workers employed in the area. It boasts a number of tourist attractions along with some of the highest concentrations of international firms headquartered here.

This part of London includes many attractions, from Harrods and Brixton’s O2 Academy to the famed King’s Road in Chelsea to the London Eye. Sports fans will be familiar with this area as it is home to the tennis capital of the world at Wimbledon and Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea Football Club, is also situated here.

Office Space in South West London (Serviced Offices)

South West London has a number of bright and spacious offices to suit businesses of all types. Business centres in Battersea, for example, accommodate large teams of over 200 people and can be rented on private and shared terms. There are also smaller premises to accommodate start-ups, making this area accessible to companies of all sizes.

With many of the premises in this area close to underground stations, accessing other areas of the city is convenient and easy. Kensington and Chelsea are predominantly focused on the retail sector while Westminster and Whitehall are dominated by the tourism sector and government offices. There are car parks in this area, but they can be costly and are typically better suited to short stops rather than all-day parking.

Nearby Areas

The areas surrounding the south west of London include Epsom, Croydon, Dulwich and Brentford. This part of the city is well-connected and with Wimbledon and Richmond Park both under 20 minutes from Waterloo Station, it is popular with businesses and commuters.

Transport Connections

Companies renting office space in South West London benefit from the great transport links the area offers. South West London has regular bus services for commuters as well as an abundance of taxis. For quick and convenient commuting, the Underground is the most popular mode of transport — there are several stations throughout the south west of the city and are served by the Piccadilly and District lines.

To main stations such as Victoria, it is just a short Tube ride — Hammersmith to Victoria takes less than 20 minutes, while Chelsea to Euston or Bank takes around 35 minutes. For accessing the main airports, both Heathrow and Gatwick Airports are easily accessible by train or Tube lines, with Heathrow around 45 minutes away and Gatwick just over an hour.

Eateries, Culture and Green Space

From top-end restaurants like Dinner by Heston to chain restaurants like ASK Italian, South West London is packed with restaurants and cafés, providing office workers with plenty of options. And if you want to grab a coffee before work, independent shops like Fee and Brown in Beckenham have a great atmosphere and delicious snacks. Richmond has a number of fantastic restaurants and also one of the best parks in all of London — perfect for a midday walk to unwind during the workday.

In terms of places to drink after work, the south west has a number of popular spots, from classic pubs to modern cocktail bars. While this region doesn’t share the reputation of places like Knightsbridge for shopping, it is home to a great number of retail chains and independent shops in areas such as Vauxhall, Clapham and Brixton. There are also various cultural picks, from the iconic Tate Britain to the Wimbledon Museum of Local History, the Hicks Gallery and the Pump House Gallery in Battersea.
